Our Purpose

The purpose of the Union PTA is the same as that of all PTAs:

  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

UNION PTA COUNCIL

In order to accomplish these goals, it requires the teamwork of parents, teachers and administrators within the school system.

The Union PTA comprises a PTA Council and PTA chapters at each school site, including a PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) at Union High School at the Union Alternative School.

The PTA Council oversees district wide programs that benefit all of the students through several programs including Klothes Kloset, Catch the Dream, Meet the Masters, Reflections and Kids on the Block. The representatives from each site help ensure these programs are a success.

Welcome Message
from the PTA President

Hello Union Family!

My name is Brittany Young and I have the privilege of serving as your Union PTA Council President.

I am a proud Union Alum. As part of the class of 2001, I attended Darnaby and then Jarman when it first opened its doors. I was the first class of sixth graders to attend the Union 6th/7th Grade Center. I have many fond memories from my time in the Renegade Regiment and cherish those friendships that are still strong today.

My husband, Chris, teaches English at Union High School and has been with the district for 15 years. We have three children-Emma is in sixth grade, Anelle is in third grade at Darnaby, and Asa is 3.

Professionally, I am a travel agent and I love helping families plan their vacations. I also love volunteering through PTA. I began in 2015 as a Pre-K Homeroom Mom and my favorite event is our annual Staff Appreciation Week. Jogathons, Readathons, Arts & Crafts Shows, Bingo Nights, Spirit Nights, Super Kids Days, and so much more are made possible by our hard working PTA volunteers.

My goal as Council President is to provide support to our local units so that they are equipped to succeed. I look forward to working with parents, administrators, the school board, and the community to continue the tradition of excellence here at Union.
