The Union Career Connections program offers a variety of classes or programs designed to help young people connect with a career they are interested in pursuing. Note: Some of the dates are subject to change.
Students meet at the High School each week (5th & 6th Hour) with a TCC Instructor.
The first semester consists of Manufacturing (Safety & Quality Training) curriculum through TCC. Students must also pass the WorkKeys Test. 2nd Semester, students will have the potential for paid internships. This program is still being developed. Full time employment is a possibility upon graduation for seniors. Drug testing will be required for a paid position. Students myst be 18 years old for this program.
City of Tulsa Automotive Technician Internship
Students can enroll in either of three blocks:
It is open to juniors and seniors.
The City of Tulsa provides aprons and steel toed boots. Students will learn how to write tickets for work orders, issue parts, and shadow on the floor. During this time, they will also be eligible to take all of the on-line classes for Ford Certification and International Fleet Certification. There are still physical classes required to complete certification, but the City of Tulsa is trying to partner with Ford and International to see if they will pay for the additional classes.
During the second semester there is an opportunity for paid positions after school and for summer. Full time employment is a possibility upon graduation for seniors. Drug testing will be required for a paid position.
Associated Builders and Contractors Internship
The Associated Builders and Contractors will offer construction internships that will be available to juniors and seniors. Office placements, electrician apprenticeships, plumbing, HVAC, and general contracting placements are available to students with their own transportation second semester.
General Service Learning
Union also offers placements in
If students can secure their own placement at any district site or with a company/community service organization, they are welcome to enroll in Service Learning. They need a completed application and a signature from me before a schedule is changed if possible. Open to juniors and seniors. This is a great opportunity to job shadow and explore career options or to use class time for community service volunteering. Transportation is a must if traveling off campus.
Each year, Union Career Connect hosts a career fair in the fall. Announcements will be made in our news section. Vendors who wish to participate may contact [email protected]/
Career Partners/Business Partner Campus Visits
Throughout the year, businesses will be providing presentations at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. or both. These will be handled like university visits. Students should watch the scrolling announcements and check Facebook Union College/Careers for announcements. Also, please remind students to check their email account regularly. Students who want to attend will sign up for all presentations through Naviance.
Military recruiters from all four branches will be doing open forum visits at 10:30 and 1:30 on selected dates. This will be publicized via Facebook/Twitter, scrolling announcements, and emails. Students can sign up for these general informational sessions on Naviance.

Students who are not on a traditional college track may contact the counselors for advisement.
