Andersen Elementary – Lauryn Moreton, fourth grade
Fourth grade teacher Lauryn Moreton has been named Teacher of the Year for Andersen Elementary School.
“I have known I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember,” Moreton said. “I had many influential teachers throughout my school career that helped shape me into who I am today. I want to instill in my students a lifelong love for learning and reading. I want each student who comes to my classroom to feel loved, accepted, and believed in.”
Moreton started teaching at Union Public Schools in the fall of 2017. “This is my fifth year teaching fourth grade at Andersen,” she said.
“I have been so fortunate to be able to remain at the same school and in the same grade level for my entire teaching career thus far,” Moreton said. “It has allowed me to truly refine the craft of teaching 4th grade! This year has presented new challenges as we continue to do our best to keep everyone safe. However, I still am seeing students ready to learn and grow in my classroom. We have found a good balance of technology and hands-on activities to learn.”
Moreton received her associate’s degree in liberal arts from Tulsa Community College in 2014; her bachelor’s degree in education in 2016 and her master’s degree in reading in 2017, both from Northeastern State University.
