The goal of science curriculum at Union Public Schools is for students to engage in inquiry-based experiences and explore concepts by using collaboration, argumentation, and evidence-based analysis.

The new Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science (OAS-Science) were adopted unanimously by the Oklahoma State Board of Education in March of 2014 and signed into rule in June of 2014. However, the state assessments given at grades 5, 8, and Biology 1 for high school will continue to be aligned to the PASS science standards in the 2014-2105 and 2015-2016 school years.

The Oklahoma State Testing Program assesses the Science Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS) with a 5th and 8th grade criterion-referenced test and a Biology I End-of-Instruction test. All of these state level assessments are based on the standards in this document.
