See Changes in School Calendar, School Hours

Due to the recent disruptions caused by severe winter weather, elementary students (grades K-5) will have 9 minutes added to every school day beginning Monday, March 1, and their last day of school will be Friday, May 28.  The school day will now start at 7:35 a.m. and end at 2:29 p.m. for elementary students (instead of starting at 7:40 a.m. and ending at 2:25 p.m.).

April 2, which was originally for parent-teacher conferences, will become a “Virtual Day” for all students – both elementary and secondary.  All Union students will work from home on April 2.

“Secondary students participated virtually or worked the distance learning plan from home during the Snow Days, so they do not have as many days to make up,” said Superintendent Dr. Kirt Hartzler.  “We will not be adding minutes to the school day for grades 6-12.”

The last day of school for secondary students (grades 6-12) will be Tuesday, May 25.

The changes were approved by the Board of Education Monday, February 22.
