District Chef Candyse Walker named Support Employee Of The Year

Posted Date: 06/15/2022

Congratulations to Union District Chef Candyse Walker, who was named Support Employee of the Year for Union Public Schools during a Support Employee celebration today at the High School.

Walker was recognized at the Performing Arts Center, following a celebration and lunch that honored support employees and all of the monthly support employee winners from the past school year.

Walker spoke briefly, citing the importance of Union employees to recognize everyone for their work efforts and how everyone is dependent on each other.

“Every one of you deserve to be up here,” Walker said, “It just so happens that someone took the time to recognize one of us and write it down. So remember that if someone goes out of their way to help you, write it down (so they can be recognized.) … Kudos to everyone. I couldn’t do this without you and you couldn’t do this without me.”

Superintendent Dr. Kirt Hartzler congratulated the winners and all of Union’s support employees as did Associate Superintendent Charlie Bushyhead, who said support employees arrive to work before teachers and stay after to make sure Union Public Schools runs smoothly, exemplifying “The Union Way.”

Emcee Kurt Frentzel introduced each of the monthly winners, speaking briefly on the impact each has made on Union and their coworkers. Bushyhead and Assistant Superintendent Sandi Calvin drew tickets for prizes, which were handed out to lucky winners throughout the audience.
