2 Alternative Students Honored In Graduation Ceremonies Today

Congratulations to Union Alternative students Matea Smith and Joana Gutierrez, the first graduates of the new school year!

Both students were recognized in front of the school where friends, family and returning students came out to celebrate their accomplishment.

State Rep. Ross Ford also presented each of the students citations from the State House of Representatives, honoring them for their achievement.

Principal Chris Ducker congratulated the students as he gave them magnets to hold their graduate certificates in place – where? – on their refrigerators, of course!

In brief remarks, Ducker advised the students and everyone to think about their next steps and the paths laid out in front of everyone, noting that while obstacles may present themselves, it is important to remember their paths and that something awaits each of us.
