Two teams of fifth graders from Peters competed in the SeaPerch regional competition sponsored by Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance this weekend. These students have worked throughout the year building underwater robots, and in the process learning new skills like cutting pipe, using power drills, and soldering. They even used Archimedes’ Principle to determine how much ballast they would need to add to their robot to make it neutrally buoyant. Teams went to the Union 6th/7th Center before spring break to test their robots in the pool as preparation for the competition.
We would like to thank seventh graders A’isha Goodell and Aedry Rangel for volunteering this year and giving us a tour of the 6th/7th Center during our trip. Also a huge thank you to eight grader Cameron Bresciano for all his help with our teams this year, including coaching one of the teams at the competition!
