Union Public Schools now offers Online Registration - LOG ON HERE.  Online registration allows families who are new or who are returning to our district the opportunity to register their children from the comfort of their own home.  Please complete these forms online and bring your verification documents listed below to the Union Enrollment Center, 6011 S. 89 E. Ave., to finalize your registration. Completing these forms online will expedite your wait time at the Enrollment Center. If your child is currently a Union student you do not need to register.

Union SchoolsVisit our centralized enrollment office at the Union Enrollment Center at 61st and 89th E. Avenue. All students new to the Union Public School district and former students who have withdrawn from the district must complete enrollment. Students must be residents of the Union Public School District, living with a parent or legal guardian. Any student who has moved during the school year or summer must bring verification.

Union SchoolsIn 2013-2014, Union grew by 227 students.  With a 1.5 percent increase over the previous year, Union served 15,526 students – 7,575 at the elementary level and 7,951 in grades 6-12.

In terms of racial origin, 5.5 percent were Native American, 14.8 percent were African-American, 7.7 percent were multi-racial, 0.1 percent were Pacific Islander/Hawaiian, 7.0 percent were Asian, 64.9 percent were Caucasian; and 27.8 percent were of Hispanic ethnicity.

There were 300 three-year-olds at the Rosa Parks Early Childhood Education Center, and 763 four-year-olds enrolled in Pre-K classes district wide.

During summer school, 1,649 elementary students received remediation or enrichment.
There were 3,204 identified gifted students first through twelfth grade served by a variety of courses and programs.

Ten percent, or 1,599 of our students, were enrolled in special education. More than 3,200 were served through Adult Basic Education. English Language Learner (ELL) services were provided to 2,112 elementary and 671 secondary students; 496 became English-proficient and exited out of the program.  Our diverse population speaks more than 50 different languages.

There were more than 1,000 students (grades PreK-7) enrolled in Union’s Extended Day Program. The EDP Summer Camp was held at Grove Elementary offering weekly themes over a nine-week period.

More than 13,880 Union students were involved in some form of the arts, including 7,575 elementary students who took both art and music classes.  At the secondary level (grades 6-12), 1,005 were in band; 607 in orchestra; 1,302 in vocal music; 1,222 in drama; 99 in competitive speech/debate; and 1,701 in a wide variety of visual arts disciplines.

Union SchoolsMore than 2,400 students in grades K-12 participated in Union’s non-competitive sports and spirit programs.  Approximately 1,600 were involved in its 23 competitive sports teams and spirit squads grades 7-12.  District athletic participation in grades 7-12 totaled 1,638; 667 girls and 971 boys.

Of the district’s 2013-14 seniors, 39% planned to further their education at four-year colleges or universities, 41% at two-year schools, 4% planned on attending technical schools, 3% opted for the military, 4% said they would enter the work force, and 9% were undecided.
 

Items to Bring to Enrollment

Proof of residence is required. Acceptable proof includes two of the following, one must be from the primary category and all the proof must be in the parents' or legal guardians' name.

  • 1. The primary proof must be one of the following: Current (within 30 days) gas, water, or electric bill, signed lease agreement or house contract that is current.  Documents must be in the parents' or legal guardians' name.
  • 2. A second proof of residence may be any of the following: Bank or credit card statement, cable bill, cellular or home phone bill, DHS letters, pay stub or another utility bill - in the parents' or legal guardians' name.  The district will not accept driver's licenses, checks, or pieces of mail as proof of residence.

Immunizations records are required. All series must be complete.

** Previously unimmunized students ages 11-15 may receive a 2-dose series of Merck Adult Hepatitis B vaccine; all other children (younger or older) must receive 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.


A certified birth certificate is required for students enrolling in Early Childhood (3 years), pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade. Hospital certificates cannot be accepted.  Students must be 3, 4, 5, or 6 years old on or before September 1.  

Student Social Security Number - Requested but not required.

Other Information - Tribal Citizenship card or a CDIB Card (Certified Degree of Indian Blood,) transcripts for secondary students, Special Education (IEP); court appointed guardianship, DHS/Foster placement papers, joint custody agreement, if applicable; address of the previous school, and telephone numbers for students’ doctors and emergency contacts.

High School parking permits and activity cards

Union SchoolsHigh school parking permits are $25, and students must provide their car license tag number and driver's license number to purchase a permit. Activity cards are $25, which includes admission to Union home athletic events and fine arts performances. Activity cards are for athletic home events – not playoff games or state games, and fine arts concerts  but not all school musicals or drama performances.

Meet the Teacher

The annual Meet the Teacher conferences for elementary students and parents will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015. During this time, parents have the opportunity to visit their children's elementary school and meet their teachers, sign up for PTA, buy a school shirt and learn about what is in store for the coming year.

Student Planners - 6th, 7th and 8th Grades

All sixth, seventh and eighth grade students are asked to purchase the Student Planner, which includes the student/parent handbook. The planners are $5.00.

It is important that you attend on your assigned day.  Any student who has decided not to return to the Alternative School should call Counselor Tammy Garcia at 918-357-7081 with that information as soon as possible.  If a student does not pick up a schedule and fails to make arrangements by 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, we will assume that he/she is not returning to the program, and we will give that spot to someone on the waiting list. 

Athletics Department unveils online schedules, forms

The Union Athletics Department is excited to announce the launch of “Rank One” an online paperwork and game scheduler program that allows Union  to move towards being more efficient and “green.”

This program offers parents/patrons the ability to fill out their child’s required Athletic Department paperwork online from a desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone.  The Rank One program also allows parents/patrons the ability to sync any and all junior high through varsity athletic schedules to their calendar and to also sign up for text/email alerts about schedule changes or updates.

A few items to note:

1. When filling out the forms, parent/guardians MUST have their student’s school ID# (along with other pertinent information).  If the student’s ID # has a zero (0) at the beginning, DROP the zero when entering it online. i.e. if student ID # is 0123456; use 123456.
2. Parent/guardians MUST have a valid email address to submit forms.
3. Students must be present to sign forms along with parent/guardian.

High school yearbook Distribution Days:

High School yearbooks will be distributed Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28, 2015, at the UMAC, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The yearbooks will be distributed in the UMAC classrooms.  The entry door is north (to the left) of the U-Wear Spirit Store.  Use the 1st door on the left.

Limited numbers of yearbooks will be available for purchase if you did not buy one.  The cost will be $95.00 each at that time (cash, or checks made payable to Union High School). Come early to guarantee a book – when they are gone, they’re gone.

The High School delivers yearbooks in the summer because Union includes events after March, such as graduation.

After the distribution days, yearbooks will be available in the High School Finance Office beginning Monday, August 3.

First day of school is Thursday, August 20, 2015.
